        HOW TO ENROLL

        ACADEMIC PREREQUISITES

Except where specified in the individual course description, there are no specific academic prerequisites for enrollment in independent study courses at Belleview. [For example, we do not ask for College Board scores or proof of high school graduation.] However, these are college courses (see "Academic Expectations," below); students should realistically assess their preparation for independent college-level study before enrolling for these courses.

        ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS AND GRADES:

The independent study courses of Belleview Christian College are fully equivalent to the corresponding traditional courses (and the student should expect to devote to independent work for the course that amount of time which would be spent in the classroom for a traditional course.)  Academic honesty is expected; any breach will result in disenrollment.

Grades given and their meanings are as follows:
A–Excellent; superior work and demonstrated initiative
B––Good; above average in all required work
        C–Average performance in assigned work
D–Poor but passing.  The lowest passing grade.
        F–Failure
Grades will appear on a Belleview Christian College or Bible Seminary transcript.
Only completed courses have grades submitted.  There is no academic penalty for failing to complete an independent study course. All units are semester hours.

        TIME LIMITS:
In general, a student should complete all the work for an independent study course within one year of registration;  however, the dean may permit an extension if circumstances warrant.
The instructor is asked to return each written assignment within two weeks of its submission.  However, students should recognize that certain times, such as the beginning or end of a school term, are difficult for instructors, and adjust their expectations accordingly.

        FEES:

Tuition: $110/semester hour.  To calculate the cost for your course, multiply the number of units by $110.  Example: the cost for Engl 121-3 is 110x3 = $330.  Textbooks are additional, and some courses require additional fees or supplies and equipment. (For example, Math 109-110 requires such items as a ruler, graph paper, and a graphing calculator.)  Current information is sent with the syllabus.
The student is responsible for any costs (e.g., postage) involved in submitting assignments.  Return postage within the United States of America will be paid by the college.
Payment: 5% discount on tuition for full payment sent with enrollment. Other options: send 1/3 with enrollment and pay the balance in two additional installments; or, when enrolling for two or more courses simultaneously, send 1/6 with enrollment and pay in five additional installments. No grades nor transcripts of record will be issued for students whose accounts are not paid in full.

        REFUNDS:

A full refund of tuition (less $10 processing fee) will be made for written withdrawal within four weeks of registration, provided that no lessons have been submitted and the course syllabus is returned in good condition. After the fourth week, no refund will be made.
Books provided to a student are thereafter considered to be used.  If books still in use by the college are returned in salable condition, the bookstore will issue a credit or, rarely, a refund of 50% of the purchase price.

        TEXTBOOKS:

The textbooks for each course are noted in the syllabus.  They may be purchased by mail through the Belleview College Bookstore, or in some cases students may obtain them locally.

        DISCLAIMER:
Belleview Christian College and Bible Seminary makes no warranty of the transferability of any of its courses to any other college, university, or program. A prospective student is urged to consult with the academic advisor at his/her campus BEFORE registering for any course whose credit he may desire to transfer.
Enrollment of a student in a course or courses at Belleview, whether on campus or by extension, does not imply admission to a degree program at Belleview. To earn a Belleview degree, students must apply and be formally admitted to a degree program.
